RECICLA PARQUE

site planOn May 24th, 2008 we will come together as a community to build a safe, innovative  and beautiful park for our children.  This ONE DAY event will serve as a learning and teaching ground for sustainable building techniques, art workshops and the power of community for the good.  We invite you to join us and we need your support!

Welcome to the RECICLA PARQUE project!

RECICLA PARQUE means Recycled Park and represents an initiative by entreamigos to work together with the parents of the elementary school to build a children’s park/playground made almost entirely out of recycled materials.

The RECICLA PARQUE initiative came to life after witnessing the amazing success of the school recycling program.  Parents, teachers and children joined together in a way that we had never seen before and we thought… wow!

RECICLA PARQUE is our favorite project ever because it combines so many elements that are critical to the healthy growth of our community and does so, ALL AT ONCE!!  RECICLA PARQUE promotes education, sustainability, community empowerment and skill building while serving the real need of creating safe, beautiful places for children to play    …pretty darn cool!

RECICLA PARQUE isn’t just about San Pancho.  We are working hard to document our steps, innovate techniques and ultimately create a step by step guide for RECICLA PARQUE projects in other communities.   If we do our job well, any community of any economic level would have what they need to create a safe playground for their children.  I can’t think of a better way to spend our time or a better gift to give to other communities!

Of course, all of this takes real resources now.   The innovation and documentation involved in this pilot project mean that above and beyond recycled materials, we need financial resources to make RECICLA PARQUE a reality.  There are many ways to support the project even if you aren’t right here in San Pancho.  Please take some time to explore this web page and learn more about RECICLA PARQUE.  If you are here in San Pancho, please join us at the community build event on May 24th.

See you there!
